The Grove: wine bar & kitchen – Lakeway

Alright y’all, this place is a typical go to for my mom and I! On days that we are out shopping or just need to feel a little up scale but don’t want to break the bank it’s the perfect place to go! As you can see it has every wine you can imagine along with a full bar. It’s a very clean contemporary feel but still has that comfort you get from the beautiful hill country.

There are multiple location in the Austin area but what makes the Lakeway location so amazing are the views! Living here my whole life I often don’t fully appreciate the beautiful views we get in the hill country but being on the side of a hill with a wall of windows makes it undeniably amazing! And what goes perfectly with these views? Their red sangria! This stuff is addictive! Instead of the typical brandy they use vodka which I love because it tones down the usual sweetness you get from sangria.

Now for the food! My mom decided to go with what we thought was going to be a personal pizza but we could have definitely shared! This one is called “the Fire in the Hole” and it is very well named. With three different types of peppers it lit my mom on fire! She said that she would probably ask for the peppers on the side next time because it was a lot hotter than she was expecting. With that being said, she also mentioned it was very good and if you’re in the mood for something with a lot of heat then that’s a good choice!

Now for my meal of choice! I’m a sucker for a really good panini! I remember when my mom bought a panini press for the house when my brother and I were young and it was definitely worth the money! So, I chose the Cuban Press. A typical Cuban press has ham, salami, swiss cheese, pickled onions or just pickles, and mustard! I actually discovered I LOVED this combination of flavors in college when I was working my way towards the freshman 15 at the fanciest food court on the Texas Tech campus! Anyways, some might thinK hot pickles and mustard are a weird combination but the tang of the mustard and sour of the pickles with the subtle swiss is the perfect combination that I crave. The Grove does it sooooo perfectly so if I’m ever in the mood for a cuban press; this is where I’m going!

The Grove is definitely a good choice for a girls day shopping or even a fancy night out with your man! That what I love about it so much. You can make it feel however you want to make it feel! Let’s not forget the full bar and unthinkable amounts of wine is always a very very big plus!
